The Arab-Turkish Congress of Social Sciences (ATCOSS) was launched as the main platform for Arab and Turkish social science scholars in the Middle East and around the world. It is organized by the International Relations Department of the Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Strategic Thinking Institute and the Center for Civilizational Research of Cairo University. Each year it will be held in a different city in Turkey and the Arab World.Its first meeting attracted a good number of participants with quality papers to Ankara in December 2011, few days before the start of the Arab Spring. The ATCOSS 2010 produced interesting academic papers that signaled the advent of the Arab Spring and recommended improving academic cooperation between Turkish and Arab scholars (see recommendation in English, Arabic and Turkish). Our next Congress will be held in Cairo during October 28-30, 2011 with the main theme of Non-State Actors and Socioeconomic and Political Transformations in the Middle East.
